The summer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy some sunshine. Thanks to London’s many open-air cinemas, even film buffs can enjoy some time in the open this summer, with several places screening the latest and most popular classic movies daily.

London’s open aid cinemas provide a great chance to hang out with your friends or enjoy your favourite film with your favourite person in an extra-special location.

Rooftop Film Club

With spectacular views, iconic films, incredible sound and comfy deckchairs, the Rooftop Film Club is the ideal spot for film buffs on a city break with romantic package hotels.

Split across three venues in London; the Rooftop Film Club allows you to watch some of your favourite movies on one of three gorgeous rooftop terraces.

From the latest releases to movie classics, the Rooftop Film Club has something for everyone to enjoy, with exclusive viewings of some of the UK’s most popular movies.

To help you catch your favourites, we’ve put together a list of the last chance to view movies being screened in August.

Movies at the Bussey Building

Sat 3 August – Aladdin

One of Disney’s most recent live-action remakes will be showing at the Bussey Building rooftop cinema on Saturday 3 August. This an excellent film for families to enjoy and is spot-on for Disney-obsessed couples on a romantic break to the city.

Mon 12 August – Mean Girls 2004

Cult favourite Mean Girls, starring Lindsey Lohan and Tina Fey will be shown as a one-off viewing on 12 August.

Fri 16 August – Rocketman: Sing-along

For a chance to sing along, head out to the sing-along screening of Rocketman on 16 August.

Tue 20 August – Pretty Woman 1990

The Julia Roberts classic will be shown on 20 August and is an excellent accompaniment to any romantic city break.

Wed 21 August – The Little Mermaid 1989

Another last-chance screening for Disney fans – the 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid will be available to watch in laid-back luxury on 21 August.

Mon 26 August – Dirty Dancing 1987

Fall in love all over again with this classic romantic movie that’s sure to get you in the mood for your romantic break.

Wed 28 August – Toy Story 4

Reminisce in nostalgia and laugh along with Woody and his pals in their latest, and possibly last, outing.

Fri 30 August – Alien: 30th Anniversary 1979

Celebrate an anniversary of a different kind with this rooftop screening of Alien to celebrate the movie’s 30th anniversary.

Roof East

Thu 1 August – Moulin Rouge! 2001

Enjoy this one-off summer viewing of the smash-hit musical on 1 August and lose yourself in a little musical movie magic.

Fri 2 August – 500 Days Of Summer 2009

The romantic-comedy 500 Days of Summer has been a firm favourite with fans of the genre since it was released in 2009. With its summery setting and romantic vibes, what better film is there to sit and watch together as part of a romantic summer break.

Sun 4 August – Enchanted 2007

Enchanted won legions of fans for being the only Disney film to poke fun at itself and the many tropes of Disney films. Settle down for viewing on 4 August and laugh and sing along with Giselle and crew.

Wed 7 August – Top Gun 1986

With a sequel finally in the works, there’s never been a better time to enjoy an open-air showing of Top Gun.

Sun 11 August – La La Land 2016

Catch the Oscar-winning La La Land on 11 August for a romantic trip to Hollywood.

Tue 13 August – Casablanca 1942

One of the most iconic, classic films – Casablanca – will be showing at Roof East on 13 August for all fans of golden-age cinema to enjoy.

Thu 15 August – Captain Marvel: Hoh Screening

Don’t go thinking open-air cinemas are just for romance films. Roof East will also be showing something to entertain Marvel fans on 15 August with Captain Marvel.

Sun 18 August – Big 1988

The classic Tom Hanks movie is sure to bring a few laughs to this summery open-air showing.

Thu 29 August – 10 Things I Hate About You 1999

90s cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You is packed full of late 90s nostalgia, humour and romance.

Sat 31 August – Bohemian Rhapsody 2018

Enjoy your favourite soundtracks at these fantastic rooftop screenings of your beloved musicals.

Queen of Hoxton

Mon 5 August – The Notebook 2004

One of the most recognisable tear-jerkers, The Notebook will be showing on 5 August on the rooftop of the Queen of Hoxton.

Mon 12 August – Clueless 1995

Another flick for the 90s kids, Clueless is one of the iconic romantic-comedies of its time.

Mon 19 August – Grease 1978

Sing along to all your favourite 50s style music with this mid-August viewing of Grease.

Tue 20 August – Notting Hill 1999

Hugh Grant is well known for his rom-coms, and what better one to enjoy than Notting Hill, which is set just a 35-minute tube ride from Queen of Hoxton.

Mon 26 August – A Star Is Born 2018

Sing along to one of this year’s biggest musicals on 26 August.
