Upcoming Exhibits you must see at the V&A Museum

The many museums of London attract millions of tourists every year and one of the most fascinating is the Victoria and Albert Museum. It houses a diverse collection of permanent artefacts, ranging from modern art and jewellery to medieval objects and musical instruments. You’re guaranteed a fascinating experience whenever you step inside the V&A Museum, but an exciting programme of upcoming exhibits can offer that something an extra bit memorable.

Situated on Cromwell Road, it takes less than 20 minutes to walk from the Park Grand Kensington London hotel to the doors of the V&A museum. The V&A Museum is also very close to the locations of other famous London attractions, such as The Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, letting you break the journey up. If you want to experience the London Underground, the V&A is also just a short journey on either the District or Piccadilly lines from your Kensington hotel, getting off at the South Kensington tube station.

This spring and summer there’s a lot going on at the V&A, including these five incredible exhibitions:

  1. Printing a New World: Commercial Graphics in the 1930s

As technology improved numerous sectors underwent a period of revolution, including graphic design. This exhibit looks at how graphic design developed in the 30s to give an intriguing insight into how the lives of ordinary people rapidly changed as we further advanced technology and innovation. The graphics are available to view until the 19th August.

  1. Electric

If you’re a fan of prints and posters, the Electric exhibition will definitely appeal to you. It takes a look at 19th century fashion plates, caricatures, playing cards, posters, and packaging from both international and British artists, including Lucian Freud, Damien Hirst, and Rachel Whiteread. The exhibition is open now until the 29th April.

  1. Without Walls: Disability and Innovation in Building Design

This exhibition combines art and architecture for a look at how to create truly universal design in buildings. Running until 21st October 2018, the exhibition charts the shift in design practices to reflect society’s changing attitudes to disabilities and assess what still needs to be done. It’ll change the way you look at buildings, including your Kensington hotel.

  1. Into the Woods: Trees on Photography

Open until just the 22nd April, this exhibit is a must attend for anyone that loves nature and photography. The showcase reflects how trees have often been a source of inspiration for a variety of artists and aims to show just how diverse nature can be. With different compositions, styles, and context, the exhibit offers an interesting perspective.

  1. Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic

Winnie the Pooh has been a much-loved classic that’s been passed down through the generations since the first story was published in 1926. The beautiful sketches, letters, and photographs gathered show the creative story behind the characters children have come to love. The exhibit is open until just 8th April, perfect for an early spring trip.
