Visiting the big city during half term can be a hectic experience. There’s plenty to see and do, but choosing between the many different venues and activities on offer and trying to ensure every member of the family is kept entertained is often very tricky. We’ve compiled this short guide to help keep the kids entertained during the upcoming half term – sure to help your city break run much more smoothly!

Visit a Festival Made for Kids

7th – 18th February

The Southbank Centre is home to some of the city’s best live arts events. This February it will play host to the Imagine Children’s Festival, a twelve-day celebration for kids, by kids. The festival features the very best of children’s theatre, as well as an array of different activities to keep children entertained. There’ll be Roald Dahl readings, alongside ‘dance theatre’ and children’s authors galore, including the chance to meet Jacqueline Wilson. Some events require advance booking, so check the official website for more information to avoid disappointment during your stay at Kensington Hotel London.

Indulge with a Family Favourite

Until 8th April

The V&A is hosting its latest exhibition, dedicated to the world of Winnie the Pooh, until April. This would make it a perfect day out for all the family, in incredible surroundings close to the Kensington Park Hotel London.

Playful and as fun-loving as you might expect, the exhibit takes an interactive approach which will appeal to both young children and the young at heart. With everything from letters to photographs, fashion and ceramics on display, the exhibit uncovers the story behind the much-loved bear and all the other characters from A.A. Milne’s classic tale.

Enjoy a Child-Friendly Meal

Finding child-friendly restaurants is sometimes more complex than it might seem, but thankfully London has plenty of venues where kids are actively welcomed. Amongst the finest child-friendly eateries is All Star Lanes, where you can combine a game of ten pin bowling with a delicious American diner-style meal.

If the fond family-favourite pizza is on the menu, then Homeslice will prove more than sufficient, with children able to see their pizza go all the way from creation to the pizza oven. The bustling atmosphere encourages plenty of happy chatter, too.

If some Mexican-inspired cuisine sounds more like your family’s scene, then Wahaca has an extensive children’s menu great for dealing with hungry tummies before returning to the Kensington Park Hotel London.

Celebrate Chinese New Year

18th February 2018

Trafalgar Square will be playing host to this year’s Chinese New Year Celebrations in London, and this event, open to all, will be welcoming in the Year of the Dog. With stage performances, martial art displays and delicious Chinese street food, there’ll be plenty here to ensure kids have a wonderful time. A specially curated selection of family-friendly activities is also on offer to help you make the most of the day out.
