Greenwich + Docklands International Festival

The Greenwich + Docklands International Festival is a free, multi-day outdoor arts festival . Part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals Series, it’s the largest event of its kind in London and brings together a wealth of performing arts disciplines including live music, street theatre and dance, plus circus workshops, all produced by both home grown and international artists.

Last year, some 60,000 visitors were treated to more than 130 shows over the course of the event with Woolwich and the Royal Albert Dock transformed into grand outdoor ballrooms. The event takes place across several venues in the Greenwich and surrounding areas, with some including the famous Cutty Sark – this makes this festival a fun choice if you want to couple open-air live music with further exploration of the city when staying with us at the Grand Park London Kensington.

British Summer Time, Hyde Park

What could be more quintessentially summertime than live music enjoyed in the gloriously green space that is the beautiful Hyde Park? This 10 day event is reason enough to make your Grand Park London Kensington reservation today. 2020’s line-up is headlined by multi-Grammy award winner Taylor Swift, Pearl Jam, Post Malone and girl band, Little Mix. Ticket holders can also expect to see a wide range of other stars giving open-air performances including Kesha, Zara and Rita Ora with more to be announced.

Music on offer will span pop, rock and hip hop and in addition to the concerts, the free Open Air festival which runs alongside will be serving up street food, movie nights, sports screenings, art workshops, circus shows, music and live entertainment, making this suitable for the whole family.

Greenwich Music Time

Set to the historically impressive backdrop of Old Royal Navy College London, some of music’s most popular and enduring stars will take to the stage over the course of five days at Greenwich Music Time. A series of concerts by the Thames, the 2020 lineup is incredibly diverse, with confirmed acts including Lea Salonga, John Barrowman, Lewis Capaldi, Lauryn Hill and McFly. The entertainment takes place in the evening, with performances taking place from 7-10pm each day – allowing you plenty of time to enjoy an Indian afternoon tea Park Grand or early dinner at the Park Grand London Kensington Restaurant before you set off to the Thames.

Somerset House Summer Series

This summer, this historic working arts centre will welcome visitors to its picturesque courtyard for a series of live musical performances from world renowned acts in a wonderfully intimate setting.

Modulo Summer Concert London

The Royal Academy of Music will open its doors for an inspiring performance on 10 July by a network of school and community musicians and groups. The esteemed Academy is the perfect backdrop for a summer concert and the ultimate destination for classical music fans. The Mudulo Concert programme is organised by Orchestras for All, a national ensemble for young musicians from challenging backgrounds across the UK.

The organisation’s Modulo programme is designed to stimulate and nurture ensemble music-making at school and music level, meaning your ears could well be treated to an early preview of some of the next generation’s most talented musicians. The theme for the performance is ‘My Roots, Our Roots’.

Before settling in for the 30-minute performance, why not take in the conservatoire’s museum? It charts 200 years of musical history with art, instruments and manuscripts on display plus there are regular live demonstrations of a 19th century piano.

Abode in the Park

The one-day Abode in the Park musical event takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the first time in 2020. An all-day party, this music festival typically hosts an extensive line-up of well-known acts with Marco Carola and Solardo already confirmed. Abode in the Park is primarily dominated by house music, making it a late summer alternative to Ibiza’s legendary closing parties, right in the heart of the capital city.
