Kensington Palace

Kensington sits right at the heart of London, making it the ideal place for visitors to stay on their trips. Not only does this area have access to a multitude of high-end shops, well-reviewed restaurants and lots of transport links, it’s also within walking distance of some of the must-see landmarks in the capital city.

If you’re staying at our Kensington Park hotel London, and are hoping to head off on a stroll to see some of the most exciting landmarks London has to offer, here’s what you should be looking for.

Kensington Palace

Kensington Gardens, London W8 4PX

Just one mile away from our Kensington hotel London, you’ll find one of the most famous and historic royal palaces in the UK. Kensington Palace was the preferred residence of sovereigns up until 1760, and it was the birthplace of Queen Victoria.

Now, the palace is the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry. It’s also home to a fabulous museum with ever-changing exhibitions – the current exhibition focusing on the late Princess Diana’s inimitable style is certainly very popular. Parts of the palace are open to the public to explore, including the King’s State Apartments, and you can take a wander through the perfectly manicured gardens, which are also open daily.

Natural History Museum

Cromwell Rd, Kensington, London SW7 5BD

The Natural History Museum is one of the most popular museums in the UK – and it’s located just a fifteen-minute stroll away from our Kensington Park hotel London. As well as the famous permanent collections and galleries (which include the recently installed skeleton of ‘Hope’, the colossal blue whale), visitors can enjoy a range of temporary exhibitions focusing on different areas of natural life.

The museum offers totally free admission for all – but some of the temporary exhibitions may have an additional fee. The site also has numerous cafes and a restaurant, so you can spend a full day there before retiring to the Park Grand Kensington.

Royal Albert Hall

Kensington Gore, Kensington, London SW7 2AP

The spectacular Royal Albert Hall is one of the world’s most prestigious music venues. It was Queen Victoria who originally signed the Royal Charter of the Corporation of the Hall of Arts and Sciences which was to operate the Hall, and shortly after laid the foundation stone of this famous building. Now a Grade I listed building, the hall is worth a visit even if you don’t hold a ticket to a musical event taking place. Guided tours are available, and there’s a fabulous restaurant where you can dine in opulent surroundings.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is just across the road from the Royal Albert Hall, and it’s still well within walking distance of our hotel. This enormous green space is a haven for those living in London, offering a peaceful destination to wander, cycle and relax surrounded by nature.

The park is also packed with interesting monuments and landmarks that are a must-see. The Hyde Park Bandstand is a beautifully maintained, traditional old bandstand in the Victorian style, and you can also visit the site of the Reformers’ Tree – now marked by a mosaic, this spot was once home to a grand old oak tree, which was burnt down during the campaign to give all adult men the vote.
